It is known that working mothers experience breastfeeding problems due to unsuitable workplace conditions, time limitation and early separation from their baby. The present study aims to determine the problems experienced by working mothers during breastfeeding period. In the present study, a qualitative research method was implemented. We conducted the study in a province located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. The population of the study consisted of breastfeeding and working mothers. The sample of the study consisted of 15 mothers who met the inclusion criteria. Interviews were conducted with the mothers determined by the purposive sampling method. The data were collected using a descriptive information form and semi-structured interview form. The interviews were conducted face-to-face. Content analysis method was used in the analysis. The average age of the participants was 30.33± 3.51, the average number of children 2.13± 0.91, the average working year was 8.73± 2.89. As a result of the data analysis, four main themes were determined. These themes were; (1) not finding private and safe spaces for milking and storage, (2) early transition to formula and supplementary food, (3) psychological effect, (4) administrative and legal problems. It was determined that working mothers during breastfeeding had difficulties in many areas and generally had negative moods. It was determined that there were problems related to giving supplementary food to the babies in the early period. In order to breastfeeding mothers for spend this period in a healthier way, appropriate policies need to be developed. It is important that nurses take a role in the development of these policies. In addition, it is recommended that nurses support mothers in acquiring appropriate coping strategies to solve breastfeeding problems of working mothers and carry out educational activities on the management of the process.
