EMERGENCY CERVICAL CERCLAGE AND AMNIOREDUCTION IN PROLAPSED MEMBRANES

Emergency servical cerclage is established treatment in dilated cervix in the second trimester. Bulging of fetal membranes necessitates amnioreduction due to provide a safe area to perform cervical cerclage as high as possible. Prolabe of fetal membranes is a condition that requires urgent cervical cerclage. The cervical edges on which the cerclage sutur will be performed, cannot be evaluated due to membranes that are prolabe. By reducing the pressure inside the amnion sac, the membranes can be safely held with cervical tenaculum by withdrawing them into the uterus, sutures can be achieved without rupturing the membranes. The aim of this case report is to present amnioreduction intervention prior the cervical cerclage in 35 years old women with cervical dilatation with bulging prolapsed fetal membranes in 20 th week of pregnancy. 20 week pregnant women admitted to an outpatient clinic for pregnancy follow-up. Cervical opening and prolapsed fetal membranes towards the vagina were diagnosed during routine ultrasound examination. After creating a safe area for cerclage; the Mc Donald’s cervical cerclage procedure was performed with Mersilene Tape Ethicon ®. In conclusion, it is important that every effort is significant and valuable to perform emergency cervical cerclage before 24 weeks of gestation, even in women with bulging fetal membranes. Further trials should be conducted to compare all the techniques
